“Gripping. This book is a first-rate thriller.” -NY Times Best-selling author Brenda Novak

Award-Winning Author

This psychological suspense follows forensic psychiatrist Kate Myers who believes the killer of two teenage girls in Bigler County, California, is the same man who savagely murdered her twin sister over fifteen years ago.

Working with a single-minded tenacity, she sets out to prove it.

Deputy Sheriff Ben Slater hides his personal pain behind the job, but Kate’s arrival in his county knocks his world on its axis and makes him believe in romance again.

He wants to believe her wild theory, but the idea of a serial killer with the kind of pathology she proposes is too bizarre.

Together they work to find a killer whose roots began in a small town in Bigler County, but whose violence spread across the nation. A Janus-like killer, more monster than man, he fixates on Kate and wants nothing more than to kill the “purple-eyed girl again.”

As this crime thriller builds to a conclusion, Kate finds herself in grave danger, while Slater uses his forensics skills to discover who the madman is and where he’s taken her.

Nineteen-year-old Sadie Zook works in her father’s furniture store in their home town of Ephrata, PA. Witty, devout, and supremely competent, Sadie is keeping a secret. Sadie occupies the little spare time she can find with her secret passion — writing and illustrating her simple and insightful stories about her life in pastoral Lancaster County.

While Sadie’s writing is mostly thoughtful and even devotional, Sadie’s wit shows in some of her tales from her father’s store — sharp delineations of “Englisher” customers whose ignorance of those who choose to live plain lives reveals Sadie’s keen talent for description, dialogue, and character development.

When twenty-one-year-old Abram Byler discovers Sadie’s secret stash of writing, he conceals it, reads it, and is initially horrified and chastises Sadie. As he continues to read, though, he discovers that beneath the clever wit, there is a sweet, nurturing soul revealed in the tender depictions of Sadie’s youngest sisters learning to churn butter. As Abram and Sadie become closer, Abram realizes that sometimes humility means using the talents God bestows.

But things aren't working out exactly as planned. For starters, the love of Spring's life, Trevor Donnelly, has disappeared without a phone call, an email, or even a message in her Twitter feed.

And finally, Spring's boss has decreed that she must escort a life-sized condom around town to promote teen abstinence in the community. So much for normal. Heartbroken and resigned, Spring agrees to marry Sam Wayne, a balding banker with an appreciation for God, books, and a well-mashed potato.

He may not be her Prince Charming, but at least he can give her the stability she thinks she needs. Swimming Upstream – Nook

Swimming Upstream is a semi-finalist in the 2014 Kindle Book Awards and RONE Award nominee.

“I once read that the end of a relationship is like being involved in a road traffic accident. Which is quite fitting really, given what happened.”

After seven years, Lizzie wonders whether she is truly happy with her long-term boyfriend. When one wrong step and a chance meeting set off an unexpected chain of events, her life starts breaking up. On the same day that she meets Martin, an attractive lifeguard, her old friend, Catherine, re-appears. But is Martin really all he seems? And what is the secret that Catherine is hiding? As Lizzie struggles to confront the ghosts of her past, can she survive the shocking twist that will change the course of her future?

Swimming Upstream is a life-affirming and often humorous story about getting over a relationship breakup. It is also a story about female friendship, love and divided loyalties – and the moral choices we find ourselves making when the chips are down.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

The story grabbed me straight away and I soon found myself immersed in the life of the central character, Lizzie, and unable to put it down. The book is well-written and has an interesting philosophical undertone whilst at the same time the story takes off at a pace, building the drama, conflict and tension to an unexpected ending.

*******

At last! Genuine characters who draw you into their lives, which are complicated but credible. Ruth writes intelligently and shows great insight into her characters’ feelings and motivations. I look forward to her next novel as it will satisfy the need for modern novels, which are well written and worth taking time out of our busy lives to enjoy reading.

*******

I was immediately engaged and looked for time to read. Lizzie is a disarming protagonist. Mancini’s characterizations are rich and dysfunctional, as real life. She doesn’t sugar coat and I found that definitely a plus. The ending was unexpected!

*******

The growth of the characters in this story is remarkable. Life does that to those who want to learn how to be stronger and can then tell their personal story. A good book to study the foibles and the strengths of ordinary people.

*******

I found myself experiencing a wide range of emotions, and I completely identified with Lizzie. This is a great read if you want something that is mainstream on the edge of literary.

As his search for the truth takes him to Washington, Paris, and London, Collins enters a shadowy world of intrigue where moral boundaries blur and the line between justice and revenge is easily crossed.

The North Building tells a story of love and personal redemption, seamlessly blending fact and fiction as it takes the reader from the foxholes of Korea to the corridors of power in the West, with the fate of nations, and individuals, hanging in the balance.

Trouble in Tawas – Agnes Barton has been waiting years for this day. She's always told Sheriff Peterson he would rue the day when his re-election time came around and now — it's finally here. What will Agnes do?

Will she cause conflict or support the other candidate?

When the sheriff's father Hal goes missing, Agnes and Eleanor Mason are on a mission to find him, leading them to the Soaring Eagle Casino. But when they haul him home it's only to find that his companion, Raul Perez, is dead at the bottom of the stairs.

When the cops show up it doesn't look good for Hal who is in possession of the dead man's credit card. With Hal now as a suspect, and Sheriff Peterson off the case, the sheriff hires Agnes and Eleanor to clear his father's name.

Will Agnes be able to clear Hal's name in time to save Peterson from failure at the polls or is this case too bizarre as a tenant claims aliens are involved?

Treasure in Tawas – The last thing Agnes Barton expected was to be slapped in cuffs alongside her best friend, and fellow-sleuthing buddy, Eleanor Mason.

All they had wanted to do was to verify if a painting at the Butler Mansion had indeed been stolen. How were they to know that they had tripped off a silent alarm—or that Agnes' nemesis Mildred Winfree's body would be discovered when the cops showed up?

It didn't help that they had entered the mansion illegally—using a key Agnes had pilfered from her daughter Martha who was working as a real estate agent to sell the old place.

Word has it that a treasure map was hidden in the back of a painting at the Butler Mansion, and it was just too juicy a story not to investigate. So here Agnes and Eleanor sat in jail as prime suspects as they were brought in for questioning.

The tabloid, Tall Tales, printed a treasure map in its most recent addition, and soon, East Tawas becomes a point of interest as treasure hunters began tearing up the town looking for treasure.

Agnes and Eleanor join in the foray, but she wondered just who was behind this tall tale, and what did it have to do with Mildred's murder?

Bigfoot and Tawas – Agnes and Eleanor embark on their most challenging case to date, finding Bigfoot!

Agnes isn't sure what to say when Billy Matlin, hires her to find Bigfoot, and it doesn't help that Eleanor is hiding in the car. Who is she to say that Bigfoot isn't real, and lord knows she sure could use a paying gig.

Armed with a baggie full of brown hair, Agnes and Eleanor march into the sheriff's department, but Sheriff Peterson is reluctant to test the hair. Outright refusing to use county resources for a DNA analysis.

Before long, the Department of Natural Resources and the United States Fish and Game Service also both refuse to test the hair.

Suggesting that the only way they would investigate is if an endangered species is involved. Never one to be told no, Agnes does the only thing she thinks will get them to change their minds by planting evidence in the form of a road killed Bald Eagle on Billy's property.

East Tawas is not only overrun with Bigfoot sightings, but it would seem just about everyone they question claims to have seen something mysterious in the woods.

When big game hunters roll into town, and with the DNR and U.S. Fish and Game fighting over the brown hair, not to mention a reality show offering up a ten million dollar prize to whoever finds Bigfoot, it's up to Agnes and Eleanor to find out the truth, which is further complicated when Billy Matlin mysteriously disappears.

Bootlegger Haze — Book One (The Saga) is the first installment of a southern family saga, set in the mid 1800's and spanning more than 50 years, that is sure to take you on an historical adventure of unrequited love, murder, and mayhem.

We are introduced to a colored bootlegger, Buford Tee Jefferson, known for selling the best whiskey in Jones County, Mississippi.

Buford Tee learns his craft from his grandfather, August Jefferson, who takes him in as a child and raises him after the murder of his mother.

We meet the rest of Buford Tee's family and follow him on his journey to become the most revered colored bootlegger in Mississippi.

We also meet his love interest, Miss Carmelia Faye Lafayette, who gives as good as she gets. She is by no means a pushover, and the two of them run two of the most successful juke joints in Jones County.

In the second installment, Bootlegger Haze – Book Two (The Legacy), we meet Buford Tee's rival, Morris York, a white bootlegger who hates him for drawing away his customers that favor Buford Tee's top-notch whiskey to York's watered-down hooch.

York's resentment is also fueled by his recollections of his stepfather's infidelity with Buford Tee's mother, Marie Claire Jefferson, a union which resulted in the birth of Buford Tee.

York believes his mother, who dies shortly after discovering the affair between her husband, Winston, and Marie Claire, died of a broken heart. As a result, York sets out to destroy Winston.

Buford Tee is also on his hit list, although others close to him suffer his wrath.

A series of mishaps, misunderstandings, and a neighbor's mistaken identify leads to the deaths of York's love-struck, teenaged daughter, and Buford Tee's adopted son.

The teens are caught up in a battle between York's flunkies and Buford Tee's posse, both vying for control of the lucrative moonshine business, the consequences of which bring devastation to the small southern town.
