Eight years ago, Allie Hathaway scandalized the wealthy elite of Chicago when she ran away to San Francisco. Now a world-renowned portrait painter, her life is filled with laughter and friendship, including being a mother to her orphaned niece. Life is perfect, so why can't she forget her first love?

Thomas Bradford has come a long way from being the Hathaway family's carriage boy. A veterinary degree, ambition and hard work have made him one of Chicago's most sought-after bachelors. If only he could forget those stolen moments with Allie, Thomas might be able to enjoy his success.

The Great Quake of 1906 stuns the nation and Allie's art studio burns to the ground, destroying years of valuable work. She's forced to return to Chicago with little Janey, the only spark of hope in a life reduced to ashes. Her faith is crushed by her tragic reversal of fortune.

Thomas knows better than to fall for the beautiful young painter again, but he's never been very wise around Allie Hathaway.

The carriage man's son is all grown up and Allie doesn't expect a second chance at a love that was refused eight years ago. Her life is in shambles and she has a child to support, so why won't her heart accept the truth?

About The Author

Virginia was born near the Rocky Mountains and although she has traveled around the world, the wilds of Colorado run in her veins. A big fan of the wide open sky and all four seasons, she believes in embracing the small moments of everyday life. A home schooling mom of six young children who rarely wear shoes, those moments usually involve a lot of noise, a lot of mess, or a whole bunch of warm cookies. Virginia holds degrees in Linguistics and Religious Studies from the University of Oregon. She lives with her habanero-eating husband, Crusberto, who is her polar opposite in all things except faith. They’ve learned to speak in short-hand code and look forward to the day they can actually finish a sentence. In the meantime, Virginia thanks God for the laughter and abundance of hugs that fill her day as she plots her next book.

“Satisfying teen entertainment but also a cathartic, uncompromising tribute to New Orleans.” -Kirkus Reviews

After the Storm of the Century rips apart New Orleans, Adele Le Moyne and her father are among the first to return to the city following the mandatory evacuation. Adele wants nothing more than for life to return to normal, but with the silent city resembling a mold-infested war zone, a parish-wide curfew, and mysterious new faces lurking in the abandoned French Quarter, normal will have to be redefined.

The Storm has passed, but as the flood waters recede, the body count continues to rise – Mother Nature couldn't drain the joie de vivre from New Orleans, but someone or something is draining life from its residents. Amidst the mayhem, strange events – too unnatural even for New Orleans – lead Adele to an attic where she accidentally opens a Pandora's box – one that has been sealed for three hundred years.

The chaos she unleashes threatens not only her life but everyone she knows. Caught suddenly in a hurricane of eighteenth-century myths and monsters, Adele must quickly untangle a web of magic and follow the threads back to the source. But who can you trust in a city where everyone has a secret, and where keeping them can be a matter of life and death – unless, that is, you're immortal.

“I could not put this book down, it kept me thoroughly engaged throughout and there were some very clever twists and turns in the story.” -Becky Sherriff, The Kindle Book Review

Ever since her mother left Camille in Uncle Bob’s care with a short note, she has been a young girl stuck in the past. His house is a throwback world where the rules are rigorous. For 8 years, dresses that never made it into the 21st century, Mama Cass’ songs and reruns of I Love Lucy and other old TV shows were her only comfort, and Uncle Bob her only companion.

Convinced by his claims of love and protection, she learned to love and accept this sheltered life, letting him become her whole world. Now a teenager, her desires to leave the house and be free are long gone. But life’s changing again; Camille finally goes to public school.

Facing brutal bullying and feelings of inadequacy, the only bit of hope is a thirteen-year-old girl who apparently enjoys her company and doesn’t look down on her clothes, her hair, her black skin; Ashley. Despite her fears, Camille starts a friendship. But Ashley goes missing, and the guilt of perhaps knowing what happened is unbearable.

She has suspicions that Uncle Bob may not be the perfect man she once thought. After eight years of seclusion, she’ll have to rethink everything and maybe find help. Finally allowing herself to think about her mother again, somehow she will have to find the strength to do the right thing. She’ll learn that growing up can change everything…

Margaret Sullivan dines with politicians, rebels, and spies. She is an admired journalist with the Chicago Tribune publishing under a male nom de plume. Her unscrupulous husband is a prominent attorney and power broker with aspirations of his own. They are well-connected members of Chicago's 1880′s Irish elite.

She breaks her vow never to get involved, and soon questions if she can ever go back to her old superficial life in Chicago again.

Overcome with her new found emotions and strong desire to help, Margaret finds herself easily convinced by Mrs. Delia Parnell that women can be just as crucial in the fight for Ireland's independence as men. Back home in Chicago Margaret publishes articles hoping to gain support in America for Michael's cause. That is until he is arrested. Desperate, she turns to her jealous, devious husband for help…but he has a hidden agenda of his own.

Torn between her career as a journalist and compassion for those overseas, she finds herself trapped by her own aspirations. Soon things spin out of control both at home and abroad, and Margaret has to decide how much she is willing sacrifice for Micheal and her love for Ireland. For The Love of Ireland is a historical novel of love and loyalty, deception and honesty. It is about women fighting against traditional roles and gender discrimination during the 1880s.

For The Love of Ireland is a work of fiction woven around actual events of the Irish Land League, a Chicago couple and the covert activities of the Clan na Gael.

Travel agents may be a vanishing breed, but Sidney Marsh, a New York transplant from Mississippi, is holding her ground–at least on land. She is the tour leader on a cruise through Scandinavia to Russia for a group of eccentric senior citizens who call themselves the High Steppers. Sidney expects her days to be filled with long meals, shopping expeditions and visits to museums, churches and fjords. But this cruise is anything but routine.

There is a killer on board, targeting the High Steppers and quite possibly herself. After the first suspicious death, the captain and his crew are grimly determined to carry on as usual. Disgusted with their inaction, Sidney decides to take matters into her own hands and launch her own investigation. She enlists the halfhearted help of her friend and business partner, the flamboyant and fun-loving Jay Wilson.

Suspects abound. What about those two handsome young men who stay mysteriously aloof? One of them has his eye on Sidney. So does another passenger, far too charming and again too young to fit the "High Stepper" mold. Then there's Captain Vargos, the arrogant ladies' man whose plans to thwart Sidney's investigation might include seduction. Who is that crew member shadowing Sidney? Is the theater really haunted?

Even the High Steppers themselves are not as predictable or harmless as they seem. The closer Sydney gets to the truth, the less she understands.

“This novel is historical romance at its finest!” -Deanna S.

1871 . . . The very proud Duke of Wexford was about to have his orderly world blown apart. At the age of nineteen Blake Sanders had wed a beautiful, dutiful wife, and she had borne him three children. But now as mid-life approached, the Duchess had the unheard of temerity to leave him! Too mortified by her behavior to mix in ton company, Blake sought companionship with his best friend and neighbor, Anthony Burroughs and his wife Elizabeth.

But Blake had forgotten the Burroughs were entertaining a houseguest, Elizabeth's distant cousin, a spinsterish 'Amazon from America'. Gertrude Finch, a champion for women's rights, had long ago decided most men were pretty useless other than Uncle Fred who'd raised her on his horse ranch near Chicago. While traveling with other Suffragists, Gert lectured women on the perils of passion, and the value of independence, but thought of neither when Blake kissed her.

While opposite in nearly every way, other than an attraction neither could deny, their one night of passion would change her world, and send Gert scurrying her way back home across the ocean. When Blake discovered his heir had stowed away on Gertrude's ship, he set out on his own adventure to America, to bring the boy home and to see her once again.

Traversing America's vast wilderness, Blake discovered that Gertrude had changed his life. Whether riding the rails or meeting common folk, Blake saw a whole new way of living, but most of all, he realized something about love. He found he was not immune, and his heart could love, and love deeply.
