Miles McTavish, 15, is undersized and inoffensive. He likes old bicycles, new music, and (don't say it too loud), model railroading. As the only child of wealthy Dallas executives, it appears that a life of trustafarian ease is his birthright. All those expectations are upended, however, the day he is summoned to the hospital bed of his friend (and fellow English three-speed enthusiast), Morgan Davies.

Professor Davies has a secret to share: he once was a time traveler. He also has a task for his young friend: Miles is to travel back in time to 1928, and across the sea to England. Once there, he is to find "a girl with a gift, a girl born out of her time" and a "secret that was not meant to be" and then return home with them both.

Miles must first find the courage to pass through the strange portal in the Vermont woods that will launch him on this mission, and then to face down a series of do-or-die crises (including a crisis of confidence). He must also navigate the low-tech, class-bound world of England in 1928 while keeping his true identity a secret.

Miles’ quest for the girl and the secret carries him from a great estate in England’s beautiful countryside to London’s jazz-age cabarets, and from terrified boy to heroic young man.

"A literary romp…a bright, light, cleverly written tale." —Cincinnati Post

The most priceless American manuscript in existence has unceremoniously dropped into Paul Mcdonald’s hands–now what? In between much-needed therapy sessions, Paul’s neurotic friend Booker the burglar stole it from his dad's girl friend's roommate, and now wants sometime-sleuth Paul to find its rightful owner. Because he's pretty sure the roommate’s not it.

Paul is so awed he can hardly bring himself to touch it. It's none other than the missing holograph of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. And Beverly the roommate’s no librarian, she's a flight attendant, so Booker suspects chicanery. He's only too right: Beverly, it turns out, is dead. Murdered for the manuscript, if Paul's guess is right.

He finds out it's in high demand from a zany collection of collectors, Huckleberry Fiends of all stripes of crazy, every single one of them capable of murder. Suddenly he's the protagonist of A Literary Nightmare, surrounded by Mysterious Strangers, playing out A Double-Barrelled Detective Story involving A Stolen White Elephant and pretty much Roughing It with the bullying Homicide Inspector Howard Blick.

It's truly, A Murder, a Mystery, and a Marriage….no, not a marriage, a manuscript! But Paul does have his eye on tough and savvy Sardis Kincannon…

I’m Living But I’m Not Alive
by Psymon H.
Rating: 4.8 Stars
Genre: Thriller and Suspense
Price: $0.00 Save $3.99
Subject to change back to full price at any time.

It’s time for you to Fire up your Kindle for the most ingenious and movie-like thriller eBook Series, Black Caviar. Critics have compared installment one “I’m Living But I’m Not Alive” to the TV blockbuster, ‘Breaking Bad’ and HBO’s ‘The Wire.’ Move over Al Capone, there’s a new gangster in Chi Town, and his name is Daman. He’s vicious, calculative and a genius in his own right. “I’m Living But I’m Not Alive” was the scary contradiction he uttered every night since the murder of his brother.

28 years later, the well renowned chess player sharpens the blades of capitalism with the American dream wet stone, and finds himself at the top table in the city’s underworld. Rubbing shoulders with the Chicago Mayor, gives him amenities beyond the normal gangster’s scope. He lives life as if it’s the only thing he has. On one hand, the devilishly good looking charmer is a family man, but on the other, he’s the head of Chicago’s most infamous D Organization.

His hard and unforgiving exterior secretes a weakness that is exposed in the form of Jane, the series black widow. Please don’t be fooled by her passion for high heels and sexy undergarments. She assumes the lingerie she displays is more than ‘Agent Provocateur.’ As she remembers from her days at law school, the words are a French legal term for “entrapment.” Tonight, the two meet at a luxurious boat party, which sparks a fear-provoking journey into the unknown.

Can Daman avoid her mind-bending games, which threaten to loosen his grip on the Windy City’s windpipe, or will Jane get caught up in her own sticky web of deceit and pay the ultimate price? One thing’s sure; Daman will understand what the great Abraham Lincoln once said: Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.

You may want to switch off your phone and fasten your seatbelt for this book joyride; but be warned, there are many fast corners without brakes, and unforeseen dangers lurking in the dark. Your box seat is waiting, and so is a cast so well-developed, their dispositions overlaps believability.

Amazon Bestselling Author

Matt Kile, ex-cop and ex-con, current smart-aleck, and a neighbor of Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge has built himself a comfortable career writing mysteries. Garson Talmadge sold weapons to Saddam Hussein, then moved out of France, came to America and married Clarice, a woman half his age. When Clarice is arrested for murdering her husband, Matt becomes the investigator for her defense attorney, and quickly learns there is a line of suspects stretching from the U.S. into Europe and the Middle East.

Not long after getting involved in the case Matt learns that Garson Talmadge's weapons deals meant the FBI had an interest as well as the French Prefecture of Police. While Matt is simply trying to establish that Clarice is innocent, the FBI is trying to learn how Hussein got some of his weaponry, and powerful members of the French government and armaments industry wants to keep Matt from following the trail far enough to expose them.

Told in the first person, Matt shares his thoughts and wise remarks as he weaves his way through a mass of plot twists and turns to its conclusion, and learns Who Murdered Garson Talmadge.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

It looks like David Bishop has done it again. This book is absolutely spectacular. I love the mystery and the storyline and how the story plays out from start to finish.

*******

The rambling interior monologue alone makes this book a must read! Top that with a murder out the starting gate, a labyrinth of plot twists with colorful characters at every turn, and you have a first class detective novel!

*******

This book is loaded with action, which makes it fun to read! Really good stuff for a major movie!

*******

David Bishop had me at hello with introduction of main character Matt Kile. The plot moved quickly while remaining intriguing and at the same time simple and believable. A page-turning mystery with a sense of humor, can’t beat that any day!

*******

The type of dialog reminded me of the mystery writers of long ago. Snappy dialog, pretty girls and a determined ex-cop. The story moved right along and I enjoyed it.

About The Author

David Bishop stuck his author nose under the edge of the mystery tent with his first novel in October 2011. Since then his mysteries have maintained a constant presence on Amazon Best Selling Lists in multiple categories of mystery novels. He has also been listed numerous times among the 100 best selling authors of mysteries, including appearances among the top 10.

He writes several series characters:

MATT KILE MYSTERIES (in the order of release): Who Murdered Garson Talmadge, The Original Alibi, Money & Murder, and his newest release (Feb 1, 2014) Find My Little Sister.

MADDIE RICHARDS MYSTERIES (in order of release): The Beholder, and Death of a Bankster.

JACK McCALL MYSTERIES (in order of release): The Third Coincidence, and The Blackmail Club.

The stories within these series are independent, not continuing. They can be read in any order.

Some personal comments from David:

I was born in Washington, D.C. From there my life likely mirrored that of a lot of my readers. We moved around. I got some education. Played some sports, and got some more education. Prior to becoming a novelist, I worked as a financial analyst determining the value of companies. But let’s talk about my current and final career, writing mystery novels.

As a writer, I conjure up occurrences designed to quickly bring the story to a roiling boil. Along the way, I invent people. Victims and villains and heroes are needed, as well as a supporting cast. I make these people fun and interesting so you will welcome them and introduce them to your friends. Primary characters need habits and tics and talents, the qualities that bring them to life and make you love them or hate them. You’ll want to see them humiliated or hunted down, be sucessful or seduced.

My mysteries offer you the opportunity to be challenged to find the villain from among the suspects. Clues as large as a log or as tiny as a bump thereon are salted throughout the stories. There are distractions in the form of false clues, called red herrings, which point to someone other than the real villain.

Take a journey with me. Laugh. Hold your breath. Cheer. Boo. The characters are rich and the plots are grabbers. I promise that you’ll be glad you came along. Some people don’t like golf or chocolate or even a hearty laugh. But I’ll bet you like some of those things and I’ll bet you’ll like my mysteries. Yours very truly, David Bishop

Thank you for considering today’s Book Of The Day – David Bishop and ENT appreciate it.

Noah Hartman has it all, or so it seems. Groomed since childhood to inherit the family fortune and business empire, the effect of living the life set down for him by controlling parents has left Noah out of touch with his inner self. Robin’s love saves Noah by inspiring him to stand up to his parents and reclaim his true identity at all costs.

But Robin harbors a secret that could devastate their lives forever. Is it enough for two soul mates to find each other, or are the forces that would tear them apart too great to overcome? Many years later, Noah lies in a hospital bed recounting his life of love and loss, only to discover a far greater truth about the past, present, and future. And the one certainty that remains unchanged in Noah’s heart — true love never dies.
