Ego bruised but spirits lifted by her relationship with Jeremy, her ex-lover’s best friend, Lydia Charles comes home to her family’s campground in coastal Maine with a new boyfriend, some old anxieties, and one big question: where’s Michael Bournham? Mike’s spent the last month incognito, living at the Charles family campground and sorting through his past to make sense of his future.

Dropping out of the media spotlight was the best choice he could have made, and with Lydia safe in the job he created for her, far away in Iceland, he has plenty of time to think about how he hurt her…and how to win her back. Jeremy followed Mike’s instructions to the letter: take care of Lydia. Falling hopelessly for her, though, wasn’t in this free-wheeling globe trotter’s plan.

Meeting her parents and settling down triggers his own issues, and when a sudden tragedy hits one of Lydia’s beloved relatives, he finds himself confronting his own past…and shaping the future. It’s all in Lydia’s hands now as she breaks every rule in an effort to learn whether the rules ever mattered at all.

My name is Sumto, and everyone thinks I am a gambling, lazy, good-for-nothing drunk. Frankly, I think they have a point. Right now I may have to join the army and fight in a war I am frankly too corpulent to cope with. Still, it looks like being a small, short war. So that’s got to be as bad as things get. Am I right?

Trained in his youth for war and politics, Sumto is interested in neither. As the son of a Patron, he should gather clients, acquire wealth, learn magic, husband a political power base and take his place amongst the Assembly of Patrons, the rulers of the city.

Sumto would rather gather friends, acquire books, learn history, husband a hangover and take his place at the gambling tables. That is not going to be an option for much longer. Unknown to Sumto, everything is about to change. There is a war in the north and Sumto is about to become a very unwilling participant.

The Life and Prayers of Saint Patrick

“….thoroughly enjoyed the facts and legends of Saint Patrick as well as the prayers included in this book.” -Linda

The Saint Patrick of his own writings and the early records of his life are not known to many. While Saint Patrick also represents shamrocks, Irish pride, and even the occasional green beer there is much of his life that is often forgotten.

For instance, the original color associated with Saint Patrick’s Day was blue, and although Saint Patrick dedicated his life to spreading Christianity in Ireland, he might not have celebrated the nation, as we do on his feast day today, in his own lifetime. Ireland, for Patrick, was in many ways bittersweet.

On the other hand, it was also the nation of his spiritual awakening, which is probably a large part of why Patrick decided to make the conversion of Ireland his calling. In the English-speaking world, few saints are as well known, yet so misunderstood, as Saint Patrick. The saint himself, as he was in life, sometimes gets lost in his holiday. The seekers who want to know the real Patrick have to dig much deeper, but they will also find Patrick a more complex and rewarding acquaintance.

When it comes right down to it, what makes a family?

Is it nature or nurture?

Prosecutor Jack Westfield has it all – a beautiful, loving wife, an exciting legal career, a child on the way. With so much going for him, his life is perfect. Until the morning of his biggest case yet. That day Jack makes a mistake, one that costs him everything.

Artist Mar Delgado had it all – marriage to her childhood sweetheart, a successful career. She had never been happier, until the boat carrying her husband on a trip to dive with hammerhead sharks returns without him.

For four years, as his career tanks and his personal life is non-existent, Jack tries to make amends for his mistake the only way he can – by searching for and bringing home the child that was stolen from him.

Mar's attempts at rebuilding her life after her husband's death flounder. She can no longer paint the coral reef paintings that she had been famous for because water terrifies her. She can no longer trust herself to love because the toll is too high. But then, in the most unexpected way, she is given a second chance.

Private Investigator Sy Colomanos has seen it all. Still, for him, finding the Westfield baby is personal. For years, he follows the kidnapper's convoluted trail across the country searching for the one clue that will help bring young Mia home. When the trail dead ends at Mar's door, however, all hell breaks loose as the question becomes, what makes a family?

I laughed, I cried & I felt so strongly for each of the main characters that I was completely torn as to what the outcome should be. I’m so glad I didn’t have to make that decision! I highly recommend this great read!

*******

I found myself completely immersed in this book right from the beginning. I felt as if I knew the characters. This book will keep you up past your bedtime to find out what happens next! And just when you think you’ve figured it out, don’t be too sure.
