A marvelously written historical novel, A Kingdom’s Cost is set during the reign of Edward I of England and his final wars in Scotland. Overall, it was one of the more enjoyable reading experiences I’ve had lately and I will definitely be looking out for more of this authors works!

J. R. Tomlin is the author of five historical novels: A King Ensnared, Freedom’s Sword, A Kingdom’s Cost, Countenance of War, and Not for Glory. She has also co-authored several fantasies with C. R. She has close ties with Scotland since her father was a native Scot, and she spent substantial time in Edinburgh whilst growing up. Her historical novels are set in Scotland. At first denying, then later concealing, apparent attempts on his life, Prosser sets out to save both his job and his skin, exploiting his agents, his best friend, a former lover, his new girlfriend and her enigmatic brother.

In doing so, he puts their lives at risk and discovers too late the effect of his heedless actions.
