“A brilliantly addictive, insomnia-inducing story…" -Alexia Purdy, bestselling author

Ellie Jordan's job is to catch and remove unwanted ghosts. Part detective, part paranormal exterminator, Ellie operates out of Savannah, Georgia, the most haunted city in the United States.

When a family contacts her to deal with a disturbing presence in the old mansion they've recently purchased, Ellie first believes it to be a typical, by-the-book specter, a residual haunting by a restless spirit. Instead, she finds herself confronting an evil older and more powerful than she'd ever expected, rooted in the house's long and sordid history of luxury, sin, and murder. The dangerous entity seems particularly interested in her clients' ten-year-old daughter.

Soon her own life is in danger, and Ellie must find a way to exorcise the darkness of the house before it can kill her, her clients, or their frightened young child.

CHRISTMAS BIZARRE

What do Santa's Sidekick, a dead lawyer and a geriatric vampire have in common? Meet Mina Kitchen — a forty-something single who finds trouble quicker than she can whip up a batch of breakfast breads. Plural. Her catering disorder runs neck-and-neck with her weird luck, and her cat's weirder tendency toward gnawing elf gear. Okay, and getting kidnapped a couple of times in one week is a little strange, too.

Her next door neighbor Vito’s past as ex-leader of the Moils, the Jewish-Polish Family from Bumville, New Jersey, comes to light and throws a dollop of dilemmas into an already simmering plot.

Top it all off with a counterfeiting ring, a county-wide dearth of holiday wrapping tape, and a mass of pets running loose at the local mall, and what do you have? A recipe for disaster that Mina whips to a froth.

CONFECTION CONNECTION

Valentine's Day stinks – literally – after a shift at The Shrimp Shack, getting showered with a vat of marinara and being haunted by a messy ghost.

The romance holiday looms large for Mina Kitchen – a forty-something single without a boyfriend in sight, and a catering disorder to beat the band. Everyone else is all set: even her Swiffer-addicted neighbor Vito (the ex-leader of the Moils, the Jewish-Polish Family from Bumville, New Jersey) has a significant other. Who knew?

And then there's her best friend Trixie. She's got a steady boyfriend, and a full time job with plenty of OT, too. She's even quit smoking! Except now she's a jelly junkie. Well, not just jelly – any sweet will do.

What's a girl to do? Set her sights on handsome Chef? Or dare a flirt with juicy James? Who you gonna call? GumBuster! Wait, that's just one of Mina's new part time jobs.

Romance fills the air (or is that fried chicken?) but dates remain elusive as a series of mysterious thefts rattle the shop owners of Lancaster “Pee-Ay”. Can mild-mannered Mina land a full time job, a boyfriend and save Trixie's waistline without getting konked by some creepy crook? Vinnie, her gigantic cat keeps assuring her things will turn out fine – but he's been wrong before.

Award-Winning Author

This psychological suspense follows forensic psychiatrist Kate Myers who believes the killer of two teenage girls in Bigler County, California, is the same man who savagely murdered her twin sister over fifteen years ago. Working with a single-minded tenacity, she sets out to prove it.

Deputy Sheriff Ben Slater hides his personal pain behind the job, but Kate’s arrival in his county knocks his world on its axis and makes him believe in romance again. He wants to believe her wild theory, but the idea of a serial killer with the kind of pathology she proposes is too bizarre.

Together they work to find a killer whose roots began in a small town in Bigler County, but whose violence spread across the nation. A Janus-like killer, more monster than man, he fixates on Kate and wants nothing more than to kill the “purple-eyed girl again.”

As this crime thriller builds to a conclusion, Kate finds herself in grave danger, while Slater uses his forensics skills to discover who the madman is and where he’s taken her.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

I read a lot of books by lesser-known or newer authors, and it usually shows in their writing. That is NOT the case with this book. It felt like I was reading the latest thriller by a veteran of the best-sellers list. The writing was smooth, the tension was palpable.I could not put it down.

*******

This by far one of the best romantic thrillers I have read in a long time. Move over Stephen King, Jo Robertson is making her mark! It was a book I did not want to put down.

*******

I was hooked within the first few pages and was hard to put the book down. Believable characters keep you engaged and make it an easy read. Part thriller, part romance with many twists and turns. This is one book you don’t want to miss and will definitely be looking for more from this author!

*******

I loved this book! I am not generally interested in romance novels, but the chemistry between Ben and Kate was believable and did not overwhelm the suspenseful plot. It is incredibly sexy and quite smart and clever throughout. I definitely recommend this book. You will love it!

*******

I loved this book! It was thrilling and kept me on my toes the whole time. I would definitely read more by this author and planning on reading the rest of the books in this series. The author has a fantastic writing style I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys thrillers.

About The Author

Jo Robertson, a former high school English teacher, lives in northern California, near the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills. She enjoys reading, scrap booking, and discussing the latest in books, movies, and television shows. Any “spare” time she has is spent enjoying her seven children and grandchildren.

When her Advanced Placement English students challenged her to quit talking about writing and “just do it,” she wrote her first completed manuscript, “The Watcher,” which won Romance Writers of American’s Golden Heart Award for romantic suspense in 2006. The second book in the loosely-connected trilogy is “The Avenger,” which won the 2007 Daphne du Maurier Overall Award for Excellence. “The Traitor” is the third book in the series.

Jo’s books are romantic thrillers, which means they straddle the line between mainstream thriller-suspense and romance. She feels that a strong relationship in a book makes the danger more intense. Readers have commented that they especially enjoy her complex, three-dimensional villains.

Thank you for considering today’s Book Of The Day – Jo Robertson and ENT appreciate it.
