“Well written with a great story line.” -ccmox

The rumblings of war in distant countries mattered little to Danny McClain. Growing up in Chicago, his world revolved around after-school jobs, a rescued beagle, his pen pal in Holland, and the Cubs' chance to go to the World Series. Then, in December of 1941, during his first year at Northwestern University, news of the attack on Pearl Harbor hit much too close to home. After a series of unexpected events over the next couple of years, Danny found himself in the co-pilot seat of a B-17, stationed with the 390th Bomb Group in Framlingham, England.

Anya Versteeg had been just a teenager when Hitler's troops invaded her homeland of Holland in May of 1940. Forced to grow up much too fast, the feisty preacher's daughter eagerly immersed herself in the Dutch Resistance and its many efforts to thwart the enemy. Certain that God had turned His back on Holland, she closed her heart and did whatever she had to do to save her country before it was too late.

By 1945, the people of Occupied Holland were starving. Cut off from the outside world in retaliation for their failed attempt to oust the Germans invaders, the Dutch had no food, no electricity, no fuel, and little hope of surviving. Thousands were dying every day. Then, just days before the war ended, help came to The Netherlands like manna from heaven. Operation Chowhound held special meaning for Lieutenant Danny McClain. Somewhere below in the battered land of tulips and windmills was the girl who needed rescuing—after rescuing so many others. And he would move heaven and earth to find her.

He helps his E.T. to call home…but can he let her go?

Following a horrendous breakup with his two (and three) timing fiancee, Oregon naturalist Dr. Kent Xavier has sworn off women, all women. He heads out into the Deschutes wilderness to brood, alone, but his solitary trip turns into a midnight rescue mission for a damsel in distress.

Lured by the beauty of planet Earth, Povre disobeys strict orders to remain in camp in favor of a moonlight walk. A bad step on a slope of loose rocks lands her in the very predicament she’s supposed to avoid: contact with the dominant native lifeforms.

Forced together by mutual need, Kent and Povre soon find themselves on the run from alien-hunting government agents. Along the way these two scientists from very different worlds discover the most important element of all – love.

Here’s what the reviewers have to say:

T.M. Roy does a great job making the reader see the beauty of the Oregon landscape. She develops interesting characters and an unusual circumstance. The story isn’t just a romance, it’s also a little bit of action/adventure.

*******

Wonderful little story. I say little little but it wasn’t too short at all – just right is more like it.

*******

I found this to be a unusual but cute story. Very enjoyable, light and easy reading that invokes your imagination.

*******

This was a very enjoyable read. T.M. Roy’s skill with both dialogue and description pulled me into the story; it was very hard to put this book down.

*******

T.M. makes it fresh and takes it in interesting directions. She has a nice turn of phrase and writes in an enjoyable style.

“Julie Smith is one of those writers you can ALWAYS count on for an enjoyable read.” -A.Customer

They'd be Queen Latifah and Danny DeVito if this were a movie. In Louisiana Lament, they're P.I.s Talba Wallis and Eddie Valentino—Talba’s young, African-American, computer-brilliant, bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and a noted poet by night; Eddie’s pushing seventy, white, hopelessly tech-challenged, and pretty much burned out. Somehow, they make it work—with Talba's tech-and-street smarts, and Eddie’s old-school hard-earned savvy, they even complement each other.

One stormy day Talba gets an emergency call from Janessa, the sister she barely knows, and arrives to find a body floating in a swimming pool—the mortal husk of Allyson Brown, known in New Orleans literary circles as the Girl Gatsby. Like Gatsby, Allyson was one of those mysterious rich people who move to town, give amazing parties, and seem made of moonbeams. Investigating, Talba finds the reality behind the Gatsby glamour.

Allyson was a con artist who neglected her children, ignored her bills, and lied like a rug. But she wasn't the only bad actor on the local literary scene. Fellow poet Rashad leads Talba a merry chase, leaving a trail of clues in the form of poetry, while novelists engage in fisticuffs, unseemly preening, and unforgivable arrogance. Before it's all over, Talba finds out just how seamy, petty, and downright murderous her fellow literati can be.
