Lovecraft is new to me… I enjoyed this introduction. I particularly liked “Demon in Glass” by E. Dane Anderson, “Scritch, Scratch” by Lynne Hardy, and “Icke”by Greg Stolze.

“Cthulhu Lives” delivers and delivers well, particularly the fantastical “Scritch, Scratch”. There is no unifying theme or setting to the stories, they are disparate, but they all hit the spot in providing a nihilistic sense of doom, the abject sense of powerlessness and insignificance that we all know and love.

I have been a Lovecraft fan for a long while. Something about his dark sensibilities and weighty prose speaks to me. He has inspired many tributes, including this one. Cthulhu Lives! was a refreshing and unique take on the mythos Lovecraft built. It’s hard to compare it to Lovecraft himself, because his writing is so unique. All in all it was a good read, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Lovecraftian horror.

This collection of tales are a fitting tribute to Lovecraft. Creepy and disturbing, they stay with you long after you have finished reading them. Some tales are modern day while others are set in the past. 1884 and Demon in Glass are two particularly effective stories. I would highly recommend this to Lovecraft fans and horror fans.
