Reunion is a political crime thriller. Police corruptions, gang crimes, murder–it’s all here in brutal detail, all tracking back to power as the central theme. Who has it, who wants it, and what will people do in order to get it? There’s a great line in the book that says “Power is addictive.”

That quality, plus the crime that results from dire poverty, coupled with crimes resulting from retribution, are major themes in the book. The plot is fast and furious, with lots of suspense as you become invested in who will prevail, and where the dark alleys will lead next.

The characters have all endured incredibly devastation and pressure, and all have complicated, overlapping goals. In the beginning you are introduced to Roger in a tense situation. Soon after we meet Michael, a lifelong friend to Roger. Then we meet Joshua who is to become Roger’s mentor. Finally we are introduced to Samuel, a loyal helper to Roger.

These men intertwine throughout the beginning of the mystery. Soon we are wrapped up in gangs, murder, political corruption, deceit, mystery and most profoundly suspense. When tragedy strikes Roger becomes a man sworn to vengeance.

Later in the story, we are introduced to Rax, a CEO with an agenda, and Krish, a cunning politician. We are spun around motives, political agendas and greed. All the while we are kept wondering as to who can be trusted.

Couldn’t read it fast enough. When I did take a break from the book, I ended up dreaming about it; I think it’s due to how detailed each of the situations were described. The ending leaves you thinking about the characters and wanting more. Yes, it was THAT good.
